Herbal Medicine

Plants and herbs are used worldwide for their therapeutic value.  They work on specific systems in the body.

There are many uses for herbs:
cleansing, toning, supporting, eliminating, stimulating and calming.

An ancient form of healing still widely used in much of the world, herbalism uses natural plants or plant-based substances to treat a range of illnesses and to enhance the functioning of the body's systems.

Patients are treated as individuals and all herbal prescriptions are specifically designed with this in mind. The plant medicines, are also the basis of many modern drugs, though work more slowly than conventional drugs and are formulated to enhance the ability of the body to heal itself. Herbal medicines may also be prescribed as a preventive measure.

Dramatic results may occur from the use of herbal remedies with many chronic diseases such as hormonal imbalances, depression, migraines, chronic fatigue, cancer, Candidia, high blood pressure, immune compromised disorders and more.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 4 billion people, 80 percent of the world population, presently use herbal medicine for some aspect of primary health care.

Paracelsus'  "Doctrine of Signatures" indicates that certain plants are linked to organs in the body for example

- Lungwort  - is used for respiratory problems.

- Eyebright  - is a well known herb used to treat the eyes.

- Stone Root - can be used in the treatment of the urinary system.

By studying the plants that grow around us, we can get some idea of how they may affect the body, and in what areas.

Using herbal medicine is somewhat of an art, not all herbs suit all people, so it is vitally important to consult a practitioner before you start a course of herbs – just to make sure this is the right one for you.

Herbal medicine can cause far less side effects than other drugs, but caution should be taken.  Getting individual advice, to suit your specific needs is advised.
